An honours degree in Psychology (GBC accredited) followed by a PhD in Vision Science (Optometry) at the University of Bradford, awarded in 2003. Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society.
Research journey
Research on visual texture and contour perception at the University of Bradford’s Department of Optometry was supported by EPSRC grant GR/N26296/01. After postdoctoral work came lecturing in biological and cognitive psychology at Trinity & All Saints College, University of Leeds, and a Senior Lecturer post at Leeds Metropolitan University until 2008.
Methods and perspective
Vision science, particularly low-level vision and visual perception, approached through psychophysical methods, statistics, and the design and programming of experiments.
Current contribution
Assists undergraduate and postgraduate labs in introductory, further and advanced research methods, cognitive psychology and biological psychology; supports final-year undergraduate and postgraduate dissertation students with statistics and experiment creation; and provides technical support for psychology-specific software and hardware, including technical and programming support on recent refereed journal articles.
